I had a similar experience for my birthday last month, and you captured my own thoughts so well. I received a specially chosen card that each manager in the company I coach had signed, expressing that my coaching has become their gift, and it touched me in very deep ways. I often think how lucky we coaches are that we can choose our customers!

I’m also sure you had a spectacular birthday in the arms of your family, dad extraordinaire that you are!

Thanks for the spelling tip. I actually couldn’t find it online and couldn’t be bothered checking a “real” dictionary! And, oh yes, that card was a highlight indeed…

Heart-felt and genuine those wishes were Pete – but if you keep reminding people that you’re betting me in the tipping comp next year I’ll have to pay one of those tacky PR firms to do my birthday wishes
And Pièce de résistance is how it’s spelt and it means “the best part or feature of something (as in a meal), a showpiece, or highlight”. That card must have been a real “highlight”.
