About Pete Aldin

Great Circle’s founder Pete Aldin is an Australian life coach and public speaker specialising in communication and motivational coaching for business and personal clients from around the world.
His greatest successes in life have come from empowering others to succeed. Over the past 12 years, his focus has been on empowering people in areas such as…
- business communication,
- family communication,
- time-management,
- career transition,
- instructional design
- personal boundary-setting,
- leadership,
- motivation,
- and quite often in getting their ‘mojo’ back!
He is writer/facilitator of the Succeeding @ Work program, winner of the 2009 ACFE award for outstanding program design and delivery.
Between 1994 and 2001, he developed a youth mentoring network called Nexus Youth in SE Melbourne, which still operates in his absence.
He has provided training, mentoring and coaching services for clients as diverse as the Victorian Building Commission’s managers, High School teachers, longterm unemployed, university students, solo business owners, and Dads.
He is a Graduate of CoachU’s Core Essentials Program and a member of the International Coach Federation. He holds an ACC credential with ICF.
However the best credential for any coach must be the success of their clients. Consider these comments from just a few past and present coaching clients:

“Pete has a commonsense approach and it’s good to be able to bounce ideas off an ‘outsider’, working in an environment where day to day pressures make it tough to engage co-managers in some reflective problem solving. He’s helped me develop practical answers to immediate issues affecting work performance.” - P Beckford, Building Commission, Victoria
“Pete’s coaching really helped me to bounce back in to the work force when I lost my job due to recession earlier this year. His techniques are unique and have a personal touch.” - Gautam Jatwani, Dubai (hired Pete as a Career Coach in 2009)
“Pete has a remarkable ability to listen! I guess this is what makes his the amazing life coach that he is. There aren’t many people who actually listen to what you have to say before they make their assessments or recommendations. Peter manages to see through the side issues and help you improve and develop what actually matters. His advice is timely and spot on. I have been privileged to hear Pete speak and present many times for various audiences. His communication skills are outstanding and he always manages to connect to his audience. I have no hesitation in recommending Pete as an excellent communicator, incredible life coach and an exceptional presenter.” - Valence Barnet, Owner, Wilson Stationery Distributors
“Pete is a generous person with strong core business ethics who will enrich any team by his participation and valuable contribution.” - D Pinkerton, RTO Manager, Eastwork Employment Inc
“When I was first thrust into a team leading position, I sought out Peter Aldin’s assistance as I worked through the sudden changes and challenges. With Peter, I learnt about problem-solving, setting up boundaries and listening skills … Peter’s coaching skills showed me how to deal with and handle people, gave me confidence, self-esteem and insight into understanding human behaviour.” - Chris A., team leader, AMES
“Interactive life-coaching sessions have helped me to clearly think through personal and work-related needs, issues and problems from an entirely different perspective. Having someone whom you can interact with for decision-making, personal development, and life-related issues, has been invaluable. I highly recommend Great Circle to anyone who wants to excel in life.” - Damien Kucan (Senior Minister, New Life Church Springvale)
“I looked to Pete Aldin as a coach/mentor when I entered into a new managerial role, and found sage advice and direction coupled with positive actions and encouragement as outcomes from each session. His ability to look into a professional situation and come alongside you as a supporter and encourager is supreme, and I really benefitted from our conversations and the work that came from it. Pete is a great coach, and someone you can trust will challenge you whilst helping you improve your personal/professional skills.” - Steve M, Brisbane (hired Pete as a Career Coach in 2008)

Why “Great Circle”?
Great Circle refers to the method sailors and pilots use to navigate their way around a sphere ( the Earth!). Great circle navigation requires both factual knowlege of earth geography and a willingness to think “counter-intuitively”. In a complex world, instinct and habit often drive us off course rather than steering us toward success and satisfaction. Our instinct is to plot our course in straight lines, but the world simply doesn’t operate that way. Reality often demands that we find ways which run contrary to our instincts when trying to reach our goals and aspirations. This is why some of our best ideas and best intentions are often frustratingly slow to achieve or even – sadly – unrealised. Great Circle is about re-learning and re-thinking our approach to family and business dynamics and relationships. In this way, we actually get to where we want to go and we often do so faster…
We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
